Founded by John Dewar & Sons in 1898, this Highland distillery is the first distillery of this famous company.
John Dewar & Sons still owns the license for Aberfeldy today and still makes up a not inconsiderable part of the basic malts for their blends.

Aberfeldy is considered a classic Highland Malt - very well balanced with a soft and full body.

Nose: clearly heather, honey and sweet pineapple, then toffee, fresh cereal and some vanilla
Taste: sweet golden syrup and again the honey, followed by spicy notes and some orange peel
Finish: dry, slightly spicy finish, again the orange peel

Aber zum Genießen gibt es komplexere Whiskys, die dann zwar nicht so mild sind, aber deutlich mehr Aromen und Tiefe aufweisen. Wer generell rauchige und torfige Whiskys mag, sollte vielleicht die 29 Euro nicht ausgeben und die Summe lieber draufpacken. Da gibt es dann Leckereien wie Ardbeg Uigeadail oder Coal Ila Destillers Edition 11 (alle mit Farbstoff). Ebenso Port Askaig 100 Proof (Islay; Mystery Malt ohne Farbstoffe)
