Murray McDavid is probably the most adventurous independent bottler in the whiskey industry.
The stated goal is to bring the optimum from every whiskey from one whiskey by ripening in another cask - so often former wine barrels are used, which produce unimaginably wonderful results.

This single malt whiskey by Glenrothes matures for several months in French wine barrels from the wine region of Jurancon.

Aroma: sweet, with intense toffee flavors, honey and some cinnamon, ripe grapes and boiled apples
Taste: creamy, clearly the notes and sweetness of dessert wine, vanilla, crushed fruits - a hint of nutmeg and caramel
Finish: long and rich with a pleasant sweetness
