Product information "Banff 36 Year Old 1975/2012 Old & Rare Douglas Laing 41.8% vol. 0,7l"
Douglas Laing & Co. was founded in 1950 as a blending company.
The core business is still old-fashioned blends - the main markets for Douglas Laing & Co. are Latin America and Asia.
Since this business has been declining since the mid-90s, it has been decided to fill the best malts from its own stock as a single malt.
This resulted in the high quality "The Old Malt Cask" series as well as the "McGibbon's Provenance" series.
Banff - Old & Rare
Banff is one of the few Highland distilleries to produce a very earthy and smoky malt.
Built in 1863, heavily damaged by German bombers in 1941 and finally closed in 1983.
Today bottlings of this distillery are only available from the independents.
Aroma: a definite sweetness, the barley is very present, then honey and freshly cut grass and toasted oak
Taste: a mouth-filling sweetness, almost like liqueur, a lot of spice and honey, a little coffee
Finish: noticeably vanilla fudge and spicy notes
Data of bottling
Distilled: November 1975
Bottled: June 2012
Edition: 153 bottles
with individual numbering
