Bladnoch was founded in 1817 by the McClellands family and remained family property until 1938. In the following decades, the owner of the Lowland distillery changed several times, ultimately she went to United Distillers, the Bladnoch 1993, quiet and sold in 1995 to an Irish contractor. At first, holiday homes were to be built on the site, then a whiskey museum - in 1997, they decided to resume production on a small scale.
