The Last Drop Finest Aged 1960/2008 52% vol. 0.05l
- Order number: 13553
"The Last Drop Distillers Limited" are the three whiskey enthusiasts James Espey, Tom Jago and Peter Fleck.
"The Last Drop" refers to the truly last available drop of a whiskey.
This bottling is a blend of Grain and Malt Whiskeys.
All contained whiskeys were distilled in 1960 or earlier and stored for 12 years (sometimes longer) in oak barrels before they were filled in 1972 as a blend in "first-fill sherry-butts".
The blend contains a variety of whiskeys from now closed distilleries.
The barrels stored since 1972 until 2008 in the Auchentoshan distillery in the Scottish Lowlands.
On February 29, 2008, the barrels were filled in a total of 1,347 bottles - without cold filtration and without dyes.
Tasting Notes
Rich aromas of sherry, toffee, prunes and plums, followed by dark chocolate and caramel.
Slightly dry in the taste and a little oak, then sherry, plums, plums, cream caramel and again dark chocolate.
The finish is rich in dried fruits, again sherry notes, cherry and oak.
The Last Drop is sealed with wax, a cork stopper is enclosed to be able to close the bottle again after opening.
Likewise, a 50ml miniature of the filling is included in order to taste the "last drop" without having to open the big bottle.
A certificate and an accompanying document for bottling are also included.
