Product information "Ben Nevis 45 Year Old 1966/2012 Sherry Douglas Laing Director's Cut 49.6% vol. 0,7l"
Douglas Laing & Co. was founded in 1950 as a blending company.
The core business is still old-fashioned blends - the main markets for Douglas Laing & Co. are Latin America and Asia.
Since this business has been declining since the mid-90s, it has been decided to fill the best malts from its own stock as a single malt.
The result is the high quality "The Old Malt Cask" series and the "McGibbon's Provenance" series.
Ben Nevis "Director's Cut"
Ben Nevis Distillery is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Scotland, in the western Highlands of Fort William.
The distillery was founded in 1825 by Long John Macdonald (Long John Distillers).
In 1955, Joseph W. Hobbs took over the distillery, an American who had lived in Scotland since the 1930s and had already bought the distilleries Glenesk, Bruichladdich and Lochside.
With moderate success, he produced at Ben Nevis Grain and Malt Whiskeys.
In 1981, Ben Nevis came back to Long John Distillers, who discontinued operations in 1986.
Since 1989 the distillery is owned by the Japanese company Nikka, which has been producing here again since 1991
Aroma: massively spicy! Complex, a hint of sorbet, with a hint of oak and fruit
Taste: again sorbet on raisins, prunes, dates and spicy oak notes
Finish: sorbet again, with a smooth finish of vanilla, spices and smoke
Data of bottling
Distilled: June 1966
Bottled: February 2012
Edition: 119 bottles
