Product information "Caperdonich 1972/2011 Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Ch. 46% vol. 0,7l"
Gordon & MacPhail is probably the most important independent bottler in Scotland.
Gordon & MacPhail has vast stocks of barrels from almost all distilleries, the stored vintages date back to the 30s.
The most famous series by Gordon & MacPhail is the Connoisseurs Choice with over 40 different bottlings.
There is also a Cask Strength series and bottlings under the name Spirit of Scotland and Speymalt.
One thing all the bottlings have in common is the very high, excellent quality.
Caperdonich
The Speyside distillery was built in 1898 as a "branch" of Glen Grant.
The two distilleries were connected by a pipeline and Caperdonich was called therefore for a long time "Glen Grant No.2".
Four years later, in 1902, the distillery was shut down again.
Only after the merger of the Grants with Glenlivet and when the distillery was completely outdated, the operation was resumed in 1965.
Caperdonich is now part of the Chivas & Glenlivet Group.
Caperdonich produces a very solid, rather dry malt, as single malt he is only from independent bottlers to get.
Most of the production goes into the Chivas Regal blends.
Distilled: March 1972
Bottled: August 2011
In the aroma clearly sherry, traces of almonds, the taste is sweet, with a distinctly fruity note.
The finish is long and beautifully rounded, again clearly sherry.
