Deanston was founded in 1965 in the Highlands.
Originally Deanston was a cotton mill with origins dating back to 1785.
The proximity to the Terth River and its good water made it easy to turn the buildings into a distillery.

In 1972, the distillery came to Invergordon, which they closed in 1982 and sold in 1990 to Burn Stewart.
Burn Stewart immediately started production again and decisively expanded the distillery, so here, in addition to whiskey, gin and vodka are also produced today.
