Wm Grant & Sons Ltd. is the big name behind this blended whisky, which is actually a vatted because only selected malt whiskeys can be found in Monkey Shoulder.
Just 27 Casks from just three different Speyside distilleries are blended together to create a batch of this extraordinarily soft and fruity whisky.
Fine Apricot aromas, vanilla tones and a pleasant maltiness are the result.
The term Monkey Shoulder dates back to the time when the barley was still turned with shovels while drying on the kiln floors of the distilleries.
The "Monkey Shoulder" is nothing more than one Shovel for turning the barley.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Monkey Shoulder tastes like
- Nose: fruity aromas of ripe apricots and pears, plus soft honey and fresh vanilla - in the background malt and oranges
- Palate: soft and round in taste - pleasantly fruity with a slight sweetness, again the apricots and pears - now a slight spiciness over everything
- Finish: long and full on the finish - now clear vanilla and cracked white pepper

Von den günstigen Whiskies einer der besseren. Es gibt ihn auch getorft. Ich bin gespannt, wie der getorfte schmeckt.
