Product information "Royal Lochnagar 23 Year Old 1984/2008 Douglas Laing "Old Malt Cask" 50% vol. 0,7l"
Douglas Laing & Co. was founded in 1950 as a blending company.
The core business is still old-fashioned blends - the main markets for Douglas Laing & Co. are Latin America and Asia.
Since this business has been declining since the mid-90s, it has been decided to fill the best malts from its own stock as a single malt.
This resulted in the high quality "The Old Malt Cask" series as well as the "McGibbon's Provenance" series.
Royal Lochnagar "The Old Malt Cask"
The distillery was founded in 1845 by John Begg.
A few years after it was founded, John Begg sold a piece of land in close proximity to the distillery to Queen Victoria, whom he invited to visit shortly afterwards, but with the wish that she should not arrive before 6 pm.
Despite this rudeness, the Queen appeared and was so impressed by the malt that John Begg was now allowed to use the addition "Royal".
The largest part of the production goes into the in-house blend "John Begg Blue Cap".
The highest quality barrels are bottled as single malt.
The whiskey is pleasantly malty with a wonderfully rounded body.
Bottling from a Refill Hogshead.
Data of bottling
Distilled: October 1984
Bottled: March 2008
Edition: 295 bottles
not cold-filtered
without dyes
