Amrut was founded in 1948 in Bangalore, India.
The barley takes Amrut from fields at the foot of the Himalaya mountains.
The source from which Amrut draws its water lies at the other end of the city and is transported by truck to the distillery.
Due to the climatic conditions in the region, the "proportion of angels" (the portion of alcohol that evaporates annually from the stored barrels) is 12-15%!
For this reason, a storage period of more than four years is almost impossible.
Despite this very short storage time, Amrut manages a balanced malt that does not have to shy away from a comparison with his Scottish relatives.
Two Continents
This malt was distilled from barley, harvested in northwestern India at the foot of the Himalayas.
After a journey of more than 2,500km, the barley reached the distillery in Bangalore, in the heart of South India.
After an initial ripening period in India, the malt was taken to Europe for a final, 9000km journey to mature in the cooler climate of our continent.
The result is the first "Two Continents Single Malt Whiskey"
Bottled February 2009
