Since 1999, the exclusive fruit distillery Lantenhammer distilled with great success the Upper Bavarian malt whiskey "Slyrs" (pronounced "Schliers" - that's what the monks called their nearby monastery in Schliersee.

The idea
Why not combine different whiskey worlds in one bottle instead of always opposing them?
An exciting experiment and a challenge anyway.
The Slyrs distillery and whiskey expert Jürgen Deibel proudly announce that the challenge has been mastered and the experiment has been more than successful!
This idea is based on a second thought.
An old, simple but very decisive truth: "the only thing that really counts is personal taste".
And to take account of this fact in its most original form, now anyone can taste the Raritas Diaboli without thinking about it with Single Malt, Blended, Grain etc ... to compare and evaluate.
A pleasure reduced to the essentials: he has to taste !!!

The genesis
With the idea the way was prepared and the work could begin. Jürgen Deibel, based on his experience on his many travels through the different whiskey and spirits worlds made suggestions, brought many different samples of different distilleries and whiskey worlds.
The Slyrs distillery began now with all its knowledge and experience with the widest variety of whiskeys, the different ages and mixing ratios
experiment.
And the result last year was the first Raritas Diaboli, the Edition 2008. Also this year, an edition was created in a similar way, the Raritas Diaboli Edition 2009!
Which whiskeys, which distilleries, of which age in which mixing ratio were combined remains a trade secret, which only the Slyrs distillery (Lantenhammer) and Jürgen Deibel possess.
They are committed to preserving the recipe and the secret!
So, ask is futile, the main thing is: he has to taste, that's it
Only thing that matters !!!



Tasting Notes

Nose: A brief whiff of white chocolate followed by peat smoke paired with notes of dried fruits such as apricot, apple and banana. Very closed and yet inviting and seductive. Very complex with hints of cinnamon.

Taste: Porky, strong, spicy and warm! This is followed by dried fruits and a hint of hay. Then come clear honey notes to light! Fascinating interplay between spicy, peaty and sweetish aromas!

Resonance: Long lasting and intense! Peat is present for a long time and yet not dominant! Enchantingly sweet, peaty and mild at the same time!
