Product information "Ben Nevis 41 Year Old 1967/2009 Sherry Cask No. 1281 49.4% vol. 0,7l"
Ben Nevis Distillery is located at the foot of the highest mountain in Scotland, in the western Highlands of Fort William.
The distillery was founded in 1825 by Long John Macdonald (Long John Distillers).
In 1955, Joseph W. Hobbs took over the distillery, an American who had lived in Scotland since the 1930s and had already bought the distilleries Glenesk, Bruichladdich and Lochside.
With moderate success, he produced at Ben Nevis Grain and Malt Whiskeys.
In 1981, Ben Nevis came back to Long John Distillers, who discontinued operations in 1986.
Since 1989 the distillery is owned by the Japanese company Nikka, which has been producing here again since 1991.
Ben Nevis produces a strong, full malt with beautiful traces of spices such as cumin, fennel and anise.
A straight, dry, almost radical whiskey.
This exclusive single barrel bottling in barrel strength comes from an excellent sherry keg that once again underlines the enormous potential of this rather unknown distillery.
