Jim McEwan's Celtic Heartlands
Under this name absolute old exception barrels of different distilleries are filled.
Jim McEwan is a co-owner and master distiller of Bruichladdich, and a partner in independent bottler Murray McDavid.
This barrel was filled in beautiful glass decanters, marked with a Gaelic symbol.
The glass carafe is firmly embedded in a noble black chest with hinge and magnetic latch.
Tomatin
Founded in the Highlands in 1897, Tomatin was constantly expanded in the 1950s and 1960s.
In 1956 Tomatin had only two stills, in 1973 there were 23 stills!
Most likely, it had been heavily miscalculated and so Tomatin filed for bankruptcy in 1985.
The Japanese group Takara Shuzo & Okura took over the distillery and installed another 11 stills.
Tomatin is still the largest malt distillery in Scotland, although the number of stills in the 90s was significantly reduced again.
Almost the entire production is shipped to Japan and blended with local whiskeys.
Tomatin is a wonderfully spicy and soft aperitif malt.
This bottling is in cask strength and of course not cool filtered and free of dyes.
Edition: 523 bottles
