Since the reopening of Bruichladdich by the independent bottler Murray McDavid in 2000 - and especially under the direction of Jim McEwan - the distillery and its whiskey shine like never before.
Jim McEwan - born on Islay and formerly master distiller at Bowmore - made a return to the original and natural in making Scottish whiskey.
For this reason, all bottlings of Bruichladdich are not filtered cool and without dyes.
Bourbon / Pedro Ximénez - Cask no. 007
A beautiful malt with a color of dark amber and a perfectly balanced body.
Very nice aromas of spicy oak and sultanas, with the addition of a little water add more aromas of sherry and dark cherries, caramelized walnuts and espresso.
In taste, the Pedro Ximénez sherry in combination with black chocolate, toffee and "Scottish Oat Cakes" dominates; replaced by strong espresso with Amaretto biscuit.
Long lasting malty finish.
