Founded in 1898 in the heart of the Speyside, Benriach was closed again two years later. The reason for this was the economic crisis at the beginning of the 20th century, which fell victim to over 30 distilleries in just 10 years. Only in 1965 was Benriach completely renovated and reopened. Since 1994, Benriach is officially bottled, until then there were only bottlings from the independents. Almost the entire production is processed on site into blends. Benriach is one of the few distilleries still using their own malting floors.
The 12-year old has very nice honey and vanilla aromas, a medium to full body and is rich in honey, vanilla with traces of cream, spices and chocolate.
