In 1968, George S. Grant filled a single Cask for the first time. in Cask strength - as a Christmas present for friends and family.
This Cask had 105° British Proof - i.e. 60%vol. Alcohol content.
Since then, Glenfarclas has selected special Casks for this bottling and blended them together so that without adding water an alcohol content of 60%vol. is achieved.
Nestled in the breathtaking hilly landscape at the foot of the majestic mountain Ben Rinnes, in the Speyside region lies an icon among Scotland's distilleries: the independent Glenfarclas Distillery.
Translated into english, the name Glenfarclas means: “Valley of the green pastures”. It is one of the best-known and most respected distilleries in Scotland. “The Spirit of Independence” has been lived extremely successfully by the Grant family for five generations now and this is also reflected in the unique Sherry- distinctive characterof the high-quality single malt Scotch whisky. Anyone who has been making whisky for over 150 years knows; exactly what is important - this knowledge is noticeable in the constant quality of the Glenfarclas single malt. The family's goal has always been to produce whiskey of exceptional quality - and their success proves them right.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenfarclas 105 Cask strength tastes like
- Nose: a lot of Sherry - clearly honey, buttered toast and nutty aromas - hinted at in the background steady coffee
- Palate: soft and creamy with spicy and peppery notes - the nuts again, fruity notes from the sherry
- Finish: long finish - nutty-spicy, the sherry tones are present but recede

Beim ersten Testen war ich etwas irritiert vom hohen Alkoholgehalt und habe mit ein paar Tropfen Wasser verdünnt - aber das ist gar nicht nötig, man sollte sich nicht vom Alkohol-Geruch abschrecken lassen. Ein spezieller Whiskey, der auch bei befreundeten Whiskey-Fans sehr gut ankam.

Der Whisky hat einen sehr intensiven Geschmack. Nichts für "jeden Tag". Aber gelegentlich ein tolles Geschmackserlebnis.
