The Gaelic word "Sinnsear" (pronounced Shane-sher) means ancestor. Jim McEwan created this whiskey in honor of Bruichladdich's pioneers who burned the distillery's first whiskey in 1880. On the label is the staff of Bruichladdich, shortly after the opening of the distillery in 1880 shown.
