Die Marke Wild Turkey kam 1942 auf den Markt und wurde schnell zum Verkaufsschlager.
Der Hersteller Austin Nichols war damals noch eine Handelsgesellschaft, die Ihre Whiskeys im Auftrag in verschiedenen Destillerien herstellen ließ.
Im Jahre 1971 erwarb Austin Nichols dann die Destillerie "D. L. Moore" bei Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, von der Familie Ripy, seitdem werden hier alle Whiskeys von Austin Nichols produziert.

Aroma: reife Himbeeren und Blaubeeren, dann frische Holzspäne und Zitrusaromen - im Hintergrund etwas Ingwer
Geschmack: zu den Früchten gesellen sich würzige Noten, wieder der Ingwer - dazu saftige Trauben und Gewürznelken, frisch gebackenes Brot mit Olivenöl
Abgang: mittellang im Abgang mit süßem Karamell und nussigen Tönen
