Seit dem Jahr 2002 destilliert die schottische Speyside-Destillerie Balvenie eine Woche lang im Jahr ihren Whisky mit 100% getorfter Gerste!
Verantwortlich dafür ist der Destillery Manager Ian Millar, der 2002 einen "Peat Burner" bei Balvenie installieren ließ.
Die verwendete Gerste stammt aus der schottischen Speyside.

Aroma: sanfter, süßer Torfrauch, dann blumige Aromen gepaart mit Butterscotch und Honig
Geschmack: samtigweich im Geschmack, wieder der Torfrauch, dann würzige Eiche und Vanille, dahinter Blütenhonig
Abgang: der weiche Torfrauch ist wieder präsent, dazu gesellen sich Töne cremiger Vanille
