Für den Non Plus Ultra Black Edition werden stark ausgebrannte Fässer verwendet - sogenannte schwarze Fässer - durch die Lagerung in diesen Fässern erhält der Rum eine sehr schöne dunkle, fast schwarze Farbe.
Non Plus Ultra ist heute ein Ausdruck für "das Beste" oder "nichts besseres folgt" - in der Antike fand man den Schriftzug "Non Plus Ultra" an den Säulen des Herakles um das Ende der bekannten Welt am Ausgang des Mittelmeers, der Straße von Gibraltar, zu markieren.
Non Plus Ultra diente somit als Warnung für die Seefahrer, ihre Reise nicht weiter in diese unbekannte Welt fortzusetzen - Non Plus Ultra kommt aus dem lateinischen und bedeutet in der korrekten Übersetzung "nicht mehr weiter"!
