Die irische Destillerie Cooley produziert nach langer Zeit heute The Tyrconnell, der Name des ursprünglichen Eigentümers der Marke, A.A. Watt & Co. wurde dafür wiederbelebt.
Das auf dem Etikett abgebildete Rennpferd ist der berühmte Namensgeber für den Whisky, das seinerzeit im Besitz der Familie Watt war.

Dieser Single Malt wird zunächst in klassischen, ehemaligen Bourbonfässern gelagert, danach für ca. 6 Monate in ehemaligen Madeirafässern.

Jim Murray bewertet diesen Whisky mit 95 von 100 Punkten in seiner Whisky-Bibel.

Aroma: süße Aromen von Honig und Rosinen, dazu eine leichte Würzigkeit und etwas Karamell
Geschmack: sehr weich im Geschmack, wieder die ausgewogenen würzigen Aromen, auch Rosinen und der Honig kommen wieder, dazu fruchtige Noten reifer Beeren
Abgang: wärmender, langer Abgang
