Amrut wurde 1948 in Bangalore, Indien gegründet.
Die Gerste bezieht Amrut von Feldern am Fuße de Himalaya-Gebirges.
Die Quelle, aus der Amrut sein Wasser bezieht, liegt am anderen Ende der Stadt und wird per Lkw zur Destillerie transportiert.

Aufgrund der klimatischen Bedingungen in der Region liegt der "Anteil der Engel" (der Teil Alkohol der jährlich aus den gelagerten Fässern verdunstet) bei 12-15%!
Aus diesem Grunde ist eine Lagerzeit von mehr als vier Jahren nahezu unmöglich.
Trotz dieser sehr kurzen Lagerzeit gelingt Amrut ein ausgewogener Malt, der einen Vergleich mit seinen schottischen Verwandten nicht scheuen muss.
